Top 10 Common Faults of Wire Stripping Machine & Quick Troubleshooting
1. Failure to Strip Insulation / Insulation Not Cut Through
Causes: Blunt or worn blades; insufficient cutting depth; hard insulation material
Solutions:
Replace with new blades
Increase stripping depth adjustment
Check for reversed or loose blades
2. Copper Strands Cut / Damaged During Stripping
Causes: Excessive blade depth; overly sharp blades; thin wire gauge
Solutions:
Reduce blade depth
Lightly dull sharp blades
Re-align blades for even clearance
3. Inconsistent Stripping Length (Too Long or Too Short)
Causes: Uneven feeding roller pressure; encoder slippage; wire slipping
Solutions:
Adjust feeding rollers to equal pressure
Clean oil and rubber debris from rollers
Tighten loose encoder mounting
4. Uneven Stripping Length for Multi-Core Wires
Causes: Unaligned inner cores; loose clamping; eccentric blade holder
Solutions:
Straighten and align cores before stripping
Clamp the entire wire bundle firmly
Calibrate horizontal and concentric alignment of the blade holder
5. Wire Not Feeding / No Wire Advancement
Causes: Insufficient feeding roller pressure; overly stiff wire; blocked inlet
Solutions:
Increase pressure on feeding rollers
Clear rubber debris from the blade area
Check for slipping feed motor or belt
6. Insulation Stuck on Copper (Not Removed)
Causes: Short stripping stroke; insufficient blade depth; tough insulation
Solutions:
Increase the stripping retraction stroke
Properly increase blade depth
Reduce stripping speed to avoid pulling
7. Abnormal Noise & Excessive Vibration
Causes: Loose blade holder; worn bearings; loose belt
Solutions:
Tighten screws on blade holder and sliding blocks
Adjust tension of synchronous belts
Apply small amount of lubricant to sliding parts
8. Copper Strands Fraying / Spreading After Stripping
Causes: Incorrect blade angle; insufficient clamping force; loose strand twisting
Solutions:
Adjust blade angle to avoid outward cutting
Firmly grip wire cores before stripping
Use round or flat blades suitable for the wire
9. Display Error / No Display / Machine Fails to Start
Causes: Activated emergency stop; poor power connection; faulty sensor
Solutions:
Reset emergency stop button
Check power cord and plug connections
Clean wire feeding sensor switch
10. Rough Edges, Burrs or Strings on Stripped End
Causes: Chipped blades; excessive speed; aged wire insulation
Solutions:
Replace damaged blades
Reduce stripping speed
Clean rubber residue in blade grooves
